The three artworks within the World Square public commission were conceived as a thoughtful journey for the people who use the building on a daily basis and introduce a dynamic, natural experience to balance the structured, repetitive and harsh urban environment outside of the building. My aim was to integrate the artworks into the fabric of the building, linking the outside environment to the interior spaces and lead the visitor up to the atrium level. I wanted the artwork to reveal greater levels of detail upon closer observation and over multiple visits. It was important for the artworks to connect the exterior façade with the interior space and to be visible from the street level so as to engage with the public. The light box in the rear of the elevator section was designed to draw attention away from the blade walls and to illuminate the disabled entry.
